Searching Out Dreams in Others
Daylily Picture
Yesterday I spotted this beautiful Lily. It had extremely vivid colors and looked as if it was lit from within by joy. As I looked at it more closely, I discovered that three of the petals appeared to be shaped in a way similar to that of an orchid and it made me think that the heart’s cry of the Lily might be that it would’ve rather preferred to be an orchid instead of a “simple daylily”.

Today when I looked out, I saw that the daylily had bowed its head as if to say “I’m giving up on my dream. I am what I am and I’ll be nothing more than that.” It made me think about how many people simply give up on their hope to be what they know they can be deep inside? How many people hang their heads as they are beaten down by circumstances in which others refuse to recognize the truth of what is in their hearts? How many of us have had our hope fade as time goes by and no one comes alongside of us in order to encourage us to pursue the dreams that are deep within our hearts? All of those experiences are quite common with in the world, however, once we invite Jesus into our hearts, we are to seek out the treasure in others:
For it is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter (Proverbs 25:2)
Our assignment as part of the Body of Christ is to encourage, lift up and edify others. We are to speak to the goodness within them in order to nurture the heart change that each one of us is pursuing. We’re all in this together and we need to start to come together, realizing that each person has something significant to contribute to the kingdom of God. It’s no longer about competition, or the “dog eat dog” way of the world. Jesus actively demonstrated the worth of each one of our brothers and sisters as He chose to give His life for each one of us that we might have life more abundant. Imagine how much more abundant our lives will be when we focus on seeking out the good in others and empowering others to become who it is they’ve always wanted to be – who it is God made them to be and who it is that Jesus saw from the cross!
